What's On The Agenda?
Erie County Council holds meetings at regular intervals throughout the year:
- Regular Meetings (covering ongoing business in the county)
- Finance Committee Meetings (discussing the annual county budget and other monetary affairs)
- Personnel Committee Meetings (dealing with the appointment and compensation of persons to county departments and authorities)
- Board of Elections Meetings (addressing matters with upcoming primary and general elections)
The public is invited to attend any meeting in person at the Erie County Courthouse (140 W. 6th St. in Downtown Erie) or virtually via Zoom. Public comment is welcome at Regular Meetings of County Council, although we encourage notice at least 5 business days in advance of the meeting (by phone at (814) 451-6303 or email at councilrequests@eriecountypa.gov)
Budget Information
One of County Council's primary responsibilities is to plan, approve, and execute the annual county budget, which accommodates for expenses such as:
- Public services and facilities
- The county corrections system
- County courts and related offices
- Personnel and operations
- Economic development

Ordinances and Resolutions
As Erie County, Pennsylvania's legislative body, Erie County Council is responsible for enacting and upholding local law in the form of ordinances, which are enforceable within county lines.
Resolutions are temporary or advisory motions undertaken or expressed by County Council in response to events or circumstances impacting our locality. They are not formal laws.
