The Governor's Civic Engagement Award is presented by the Pennsylvania Departments of State and Education. It celebrates the efforts of Pennsylvania high school students to educate, engage and inform their fellow students about how to get involved in the voting process. The Student Poll Worker Program is open to high school students, 17 years of age and older, who are provided training on how Election Day works at the polls. They are then placed into Erie County's 149 precincts to assist voters during the elections. The program is a positive way to provide outreach and engage the next generation of poll workers, and it allows students the opportunity to directly impact their community. Erie County is proud of its student poll workers and joins the state in recognizing the recipients of this year's Governor's Award from Fort LeBoeuf High School.
