ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Notice is hereby given that the Erie County Board of Elections shall meet no earlier than 7:00am, prevailing time, on May 19, 2026 in room 112 at the Erie County Courthouse, 140 W 6th Street Erie, PA, to oversee the Pre-Canvass of all Absentee and Mail-in Ballots received prior to the meeting. The Pre-Canvass will be conducted in accordance with PA Election Code.

No earlier than the close of Polls at 8:00pm, prevailing time, the Erie County Board of Elections will commence the Canvassing of all ballots cast in the Primary Election held May 19, 2026 in Erie County, Pennsylvania in accordance with PA Election Code.

Final Canvass will commence on May 22, 2026 at 9:00am in room 112 at the Erie County Courthouse.

Notice of Logic and Accuracy Testing:
The Logic & Accuracy Testing of the electronic voting machines will commence at 9:00 a.m. on Monday April 13, 2026, at the Election Office, Room 112, Erie County Courthouse, 140 West 6th Street, Erie, PA and at the Voter Warehouse 901 W. 12th Street Ste. 205, Erie, PA.

The 2026 General Primary will be held on May 19, 2026. Polls will be open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Important Dates:

  • April 17th - First Day of Early/On Demand Mail Ballot voting - Tentative
  • May 13th - FREE PARKING for mail ballot voters using the Dropbox
  • May 4th - Last Day to register to vote
  • May 12th - Last Day to apply for a mail ballot or vote early
  • May 19 - 2026 General Primary Election

Getting Registered

There are three ways to get registered to vote in Erie County, Pennsylvania:

  1. Filling out an online form on the official Commonwealth of Pennsylvania website
  2. Downloading, printing, and mailing a paper application to us at the address below:

  3. In-person at the address above, or at a PennDOT photo and driver's license center location near you.

To vote in Pennsylvania, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Register at least 15 days before the next election.
  • Be a citizen of the United States for at least one month before the election.
  • Be a resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which you want to register and vote for at least 30 days before the next election.
  • Be at least 18 years of age on or before the day of the next election.
